Aqualution in practice
Aqualution is dosed constantly into the water supply at the rate
of 5-10%. The method used for dosing varies according to your individual
unit: we supply Aqualution to units varying in size from less than
50 birds to >800 000. Aqualution is supplied either in 1000 litre
IBCs or 25 litre drums, according to your requirements.
We recommend two dosing methods for game sites: manual dosing or
doing using a Dosatron pump. This downloadable leaflet will help
you decide which method is best for your unit
Aqualution needs to be added to the water supply at sufficient concentrations
to achieve 1.5 to 2 ppm of free chlorine in the drinking water.
Dose rate varies from farm to farm, depending on many factors, including
water supply (mains, borehole), water mineral content (hardness,
iron), water system and so forth. Typical inclusion rates will vary
between 5-10%.
To assist in finding the optimum dosage for individual units we
provide testing strips to measure free chlorine in the drinking
water. This simple colour-change test is carried out on site and
immediately shows free chlorine levels in the water, allowing the
dose to be fine tuned accordingly. This allows each unit to have
a bespoke water sanitising system.
HOW MUCH WATER DO YOUR BIRDS DRINK?
Do you know how much water your birds consume? Below are some interactive
spreadsheets to calculate water usage on your unit. Fill in the
blue boxes with your bird numbers and it will calculate water usage.
In addition, it calculates how much Aqualution you would need, and
how long a 1000 litre IBC will last on your unit. The spreadsheets
are set to 5% dosing rate as standard: our recommended rates are
5-10%.
Aqualution is available either in 1000 litre IBCs, which can treat
10000 to 20000 litres of drinking water, depending on dose rate,
or 25 litre drums, which can treat 250 to 500 litres of drinking
water. Aqualution is available either direct, or through a national
network of suppliers. Please call us to find your nearest supplier.
